THE ACADEMY

The Mega Music Academy supports a fun learning environment using an interactive method where students are guided to their individual musical goals. We have professional teachers, experienced in many different styles of music, working Monday to Saturday for the following instruments; Guitar (Electric, Acoustic, Classical), Bass Guitar, Drums, Percussion, Piano/Keyboards, Harmonica, Vocals, Violin, Saxophone, Clarinet & Flute.

Payments and Bookings
The Academy’s rates are $25 per half-hour lesson and we collect payments for the lessons booked for each school term at the start of the term, discounts apply for earlybird payments. We also welcome students who just want a ‘refresher’ lesson, students who want a single lesson to get direction in a particular area or who need to book casually because of an erratic schedule. We have a Family Discount Scheme, reducing the 2nd half-hour lesson per week booked within a family to $23 and reducing the 3rd (or further) to only $21. Further discounts may apply again with a prepayment. Bookings can be made by calling Jess in the Academy at Mega Music on 9330 2777.

Band Program
The Academy runs a program designed to give players the knowledge and confidence required to work in the music industry, and the skills to take their performance from the bedroom to the stage!

Once a Band Program Registration Form (available on request) has been filled out and handed to the Academy Manager, you will then be placed in a band with musicians of similar interests, age and ability, as soon as possible. Each group has a tutor who is very experienced with playing in bands and instructs the musicians on ways in which they can better fulfill their role in a band as well as helping them handle the common problems that arise within the band environment. The classes also focus on quarterly concerts at which the bands perform and these are recorded and video taped to help the bands develop their performance skills. We work together with the City of Melville to provide a second concert each quarter that is open to the public and promoted heavily in our local area.

Band classes run for an hour per session and cost $25 per student (G.S.T. Inc) or $20 for students who also get one-on-one lessons at the academy. If you have any further queries please contact Mega Music Academy on 9330 2777.

Clinics and Courses
Mega Music regularly hosts clinics with national and international musicians along with courses in a number of specialist areas as outlined below. Just phone or come in to the store to check details of upcoming clinics and course starting dates.

One-on-one tuition is also available in the areas covered by these courses:

Song Writing/Recording Course
This course runs for five weeks (duration 1.5hrs weeks 1- 3, 3hrs weeks 4- 5) and incorporate all the steps for writing, producing, recording and doing basic marketing. Songs are written and recorded as the course progresses and then burnt to CD and packaged by the group, showing that it is possible to complete such a daunting task as writing and recording an EP.

Numbers are limited to 5 song projects per course so book now!

Music Technology Course
This course offers knowledge and practical experience in sound reinforcement, MIDI, audio, sequencing, arranging and production. An overview of the different avenues available within the field of electronic music is included. The first five-week unit concentrates on hands-on practice of important theory, while the second unit develops these skills through project based learning. Students design and create their own musical projects.

DJ and Turntable Course
This course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to set-up and operate DJ equipment. Along with learning about equipment, mixing and generally doing the job of a DJ using CD and turntables, students will also get to learn a few of the ‘tricks of the trade’ such as ‘scratching’.

Dates, times and details for these courses are available in the Academy waiting area or by calling the Academy.

Call Mega Music on 9330 2777 if wish to book or just get more information about anything relating to the Academy. We also welcome any suggestions people may have for our school. We look forward to your call and to seeing you in the school or shop soon!
